What are some common operating systems that cell phones use?

I’m doing a term paper on comparing and contrasting cell phone operating systems. What are the main ones used, are any new ones emerging, and what Web sites would have more information about them?

sony smartphones use symbian. Other brands use Windows CE, and other a little less capables just use an specific firmware (an OS more simple, made or designed by the manufacturer), but you’d like to check out some other brands to have more info.
