How can I SAFELY get my most recent credit score on line?
June 7th, 2009 Posted by: admin
I have a history of bad credit, Ch 13, etc. I would like to check my score, but am afraid to do so on line; any suggestions for a safe site to do this with? Are there any safe, free ones? And, any suggestions on how to improve it once I see that it is still REALLY bad? lol

The best place to get your real, up-to-date FICO score (the one creditors use) is MyFico.com. The site is safe and you will have to pay for your score.
There are lots of sites that advertise free credit reports and scores. They all require you to sign up for their monitoring services. The scores they give may not be FICO or up-to-date.
You should also look at your credit report, which is really more important than your score. You can get free annual report from each credit bureau online at AnnualCreditReport.com. This is the site mandated by the FTC and is the only site that does not require you to sign up for monitoring to get a free report. If you space out one credit bureau report every 4 months, you can monitor thru out the year.

annualcreditreport.com one free per year, and you get to see not only your credit report but your score, lots of other sites charge extra for that.
Good luck.
Getting a secured credit card or a small line of credit can help imporve your score…. I got a les schwab account (tire place) and thats helped a lot!

Annualcreditreport.com gives you free annual reports, but not scores. Go to myfico.com for scores (you will have to pay).
